Brad Penny vs. Tom Glavine...you were expecting some sort of pitchers duel? well i was.
and i couldnt have been more wrong.
Glavine started shaky...but doesnt he always? gave up back to back singles to lugo and nomar...but he got out of it.
and for the mets...again...it started in the first. 4 hits in a row to start the game.
a base runner mistake by Lo Duca did cost us a run...but Beltran and Wright picked up RBI's
2-0 mets...122 first inning runs.
glavine went 1-2-3 in the second and third
and in the second Valentin crushed...CRUSHED a ball to delgado/mo vaughn territory...off the scoredboard. right above the HIP sign.
3-0 mets.
top o the 4th..where glav fell apart last time out...and it looked like he'd lose it again.
with two outs he gave up a double and then hit ethier with a pitch.
but then he got Mr. "I like running into walls and misplaying balls" (ILRIWAMB for short) Matt Kemp to ground out to glav. who looked like a gold glover making a nice play on this jam shot from kemp and a nice reaction play snagging a ball lined right back at him.
the most exciting part came in the bot of the 6th.

Valentin hit into FC...to kent...kent threw home to try to get Wright, who was running on contact, good throw but the catcher could hang on...and wright scored, and green moved to third.
Glav laid down his sac bunt...
so 2nd and 3rd...2 out...
Jose Reyes smacks a ball high and far to left center...kemp going back...back...back...whoops misses the ball...hits the wall...and the ball rolls back into center field...
Jose goes all the way. INSIDE THE PARK HOME RUN! whoo all in 14.81 seconds too.

Glavine got into trouble in the 7th.
Mota came in and walked 1 (first walk of the game for the mets) but got out of it.
Bert and Heilman gave up a single each but closed out the game.
Final 7-0.

As Keith, Gary and Ron were tlaking about during the game...i think Bert Hernandez in the man on the bubble, because theyre going to have to take maine into the playoffs, which would bump a short reliever off the roster.
The way Mota has been so lights out would have to point to Bert getting the bump.
