Game Recap: Mets 8 – Nationals 2

All-around beauty.

The Good

Dingers.  Both Rod Barajas and Jeff Francoeur hit a pair of home runs, marking the first time the Mets ever hit four home runs in Citi Field.  They combined for five RBI.

Six innings.  Mike Pelfrey turned in a good effort, allowing two earned in six innings.  He struck out four and tossed 57 of 94 for strikes, including 16 first-pitch strikes.

Dozens.  The Mets pounded out 12 hits, five for extra bases.

Hitless.  Hisanori Takahashi rebounded from last night, Fernando Nieve pitched in his fourth straight game and Jenrry Mejia set them down 1-2-3 in the ninth.

The Bad

K-Bay.  Jason Bay struck out three times in five trips to the plate.  He did single and walk in his other two PAs.

Walk on.  Tyler Walker surrendered five hits and three earned runs in only 1 1/3 innings.

Walked over.  Pelfrey walked four batters in his six innings.

Game Ball

Split between Barajas and Francoeur.
