Francisco Rodriguez told reporters he threw an estimated 100 pitches between the 9th and 19th innings while waiting for his chance to close out Saturday's 20-inning war of attrition against the Cardinals.
This makes my head hurt.
Sure, he’s ballparking a figure, but how far off could he be? The cameras showed K-Rod warming up at least four times during the game, if not more. Even if he threw 50 in the bullpen (unlikely), he probably threw five warm-ups on the mound and another 24 during the game. That’s at least 80. At least.
Here’s hoping he doesn’t get in today.
