Update: Brian Costa is reporting that the concourse has been reopened. He also reports that the Mets claim it was an unattended camera bag and is no longer a concern.
According to various tweets, there is police activity outside of the press box at Citi Field, apparently due to a suspicious package.
@MetsWFAN is trying to confirm that there is a “suspicious package” at Citi Field.
@Ledger_NYMets is confirming the Excelsior Level on third base side is closed off due to “security issue.”
John R. Finger, of CSNPhilly.com, is reporting that the bomb squad has the X-Ray machine at the “suspicious package.”
Kieran Darcy of ESPNNewYork.com is reporting that the area surrounding the press box has also been evacuated.
“Apparently, were taking x-Rays of suspicious package that was about 15 yds away from press box,” Phillies beat reporter Mandy Housenick reports.
I’m very interested to see how Gary Cohen approaches this subject during the broadcast. It’s a well-known fact right now that there was something wrong and security, police and the bomb squad were on the scene. Will he dance around it, as per the Mets wishes? Or will he discuss it in plain detail. So far, nothing.
