This is the greatest/funniest/cheesiest website I have ever come across
I laughed for a good five minutes at this.
The whole scrolling image displays various players and managers, all in different goofy poses.
I really wish I could have been at this photoshoot(s).
- "Excuse me, Mr. Uggla, could you smile and pretend to catch this ball?"
- "Mr. Kent and Mr. Phillips, could you jump and pretend to catch these balls?? Oh, and smile more."
- "Mr. Haren, can you just gaze at the floor in a somewhat creepy manner? Thanks."
- "Mr. Rivera can you please stop clutching Mr. Torre, and stop begging for him to come back to New York!? Mr. Rivera, stop crying, please."
I feel a draft
First three picks:
18. Ike Davis - 1B/OF (ASU)
23. Reese Havens - 2B/SS (SCU)
33. Brad Holt - RHP (UNC - Wilmington)
Hopefully, in about 5 years, Citi Field is swarmed with people wearing "I LIKE IKE" shirts, buttons, hats, and other paraphernalia.
Here are a few POST headlines I know I will see if these three make the bigs:

- "IKE 4 PREZ," "I LIKE IKE" (of course), and for if/when he stinks it up, the opposing viewpoint, "DON'T LIKE IKE!"
- "HEAVEN FOR HAVENS," "THANK HAVENS FOR HEAVEN" (or switch it to "THANK HEAVEN FOR HAVENS" though I think they'll throw a curveball at us, especially if he hits a walks-off), "REESE'S PEICES."
- "HOLT THE BOLT" (for when he steals his first base, and throws seven solid innings), and finally, "HOLT .45's."
Evans down, Nunez up
From the Mets:
Bye, Evans. See you soon, I hope.
The New York Mets announced today that they have purchased the contract of infielder Abraham Nuñez from New Orleans (AAA) of the Pacific Coast League and have optioned infielder / outfielder Nick Evans to Binghamton (AA) of the Eastern League.Oh. Great.
Bye, Evans. See you soon, I hope.
Draft day
Today is the draft for MLB. Though I won't go into super detail on who is picked, I will relay the info. The draft begins at 2 p.m. and can be seen on MLB.com and ESPN2.
Frankly, I think this draft is a crapshoot. A player taken late in the draft, could blossom in the minors and become a big star. On the other hand, an early choice could have already hit his peak and will bounce around in the minors, never getting to the bigs.
Time to roll the dice, Omar Minaya, and try and land the Mets a big fish.

Vote for Mr. Met
One of the websites I frequent often, Home Run Derby, is running a MLB mascot bracket.
Right now, our one and only Mr. Met is squared off against another of his obvious ripoffs, Homer, the mascot of the Atlanta Braves.
Go here to vote.
Mr. Met is currently beating Homer into a pulp, winning 98% of the votes. I'm going to go out on a limb here and call this race all but over, but still feel free to vote. You never know what could happen.

Early Morning Madness -- 6/5
I expected the Mets turnaround to be a very drawn out affair. Win a few games here, take two days off, win a few more. A two steps forward, one step back type of deal.
Right now, they seem to just be putting the pedal to the metal and cranking it to sixth gear. My only fear is that they will tease us with a very long winning streak, or string of games where they go 7-3 over 10 games (oh, wait!) and then suddenly have everything fall apart and start losing again.
Then things will really get out of hand in the media. Just something to chew on.

Jose Reyes is hot. Carlos Beltran is hot. Most of the team is hot. And I am a happy man.
I'm wondering if we'll ever see Matt Wise pitch again in a Mets uniform. He just can't seem to get healthy and the latest injury smells like something he'll need surgery for. Just a hunch though.

So long, John Smoltz. You're gone for this year, and possibly your career. For the sake of Mets fans everywhere, just hang them up already.

TSTDIA: Mets 5 -- Giants 3
This team seems to be escalating from "lukewarm" to "hot" quicker than I expected.
Stupid west coast baseball
I hate missing baseball games. I haven't seen a full game in days.
Mark this up as just another reason I want to be a writer. You actually go to the games...as your job!
