According to the AP, Francisco Rodriguez is the first pitcher since 1995 to allow two walk-off grand slams in the same season.
The last pitcher to do so was Lee Smith in 1995 with the Angels.
Yeesh.

According to Peter Greenberg, Jose Reyes “is going to be good for next year.”
Reyes is expected to have surgery on the leg.
Andrew Marchand of 1050 ESPN spoke to Greenberg who said he has consulted with Omar Minaya and Jeff Wilpon and they believe that Reyes should be able to begin working out in December of January.
If that’s true, Reyes should be ready to go by spring training.
Fingers crossed.
Jesse Spector, who pens the wonderful Touching Base blog for the Daily News, has been putting together a Q&A with some bloggers. Jesse was nice enough to interview me for one of the “Nine Innings.”
Click here to read the blog, where I answer who the most overrated and underrated players are, my picks for MVP, ROY and Cy Young and my most disappointing Met, among other things.
Thanks again, Jesse.
From the Mets…
The New York Mets today announced they will host PEANUTS 60-Year Celebration at Citi Field this Saturday, October 3 when the Mets play the Houston Astros at 1:10 p.m.
The famous PEANUTS characters Snoopy and Charlie Brown will roam the ballpark with Mr. Met throughout the game. Snoopy will also throw out the first pitch and join Mr. Met for the Mr. Met Dash, where children run the bases after the game.
The first 25,000 fans in attendance will receive a PEANUTS Trick-or-Treat Bag in time for Halloween. Lucky fans will also be able to win copies of "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" DVD from Warner Home Video, and PEANUTS New Balance Sneakers for toddlers and infants.
Super. Wonderful. Anything to put fans in the stands.
But on a non-baseball note, PEANUTS has got to stop. This comic strip needs to get out of the newspaper every day. We get it, it’s a classic, but it’s maddeningly boring and bland. Do away with it, please.
Also, while you’re at it, please do away with…
But that’s just me.
(Yeah, the Mets are so bad they’ve driven to me blog about comic strips.)
“We're not playing good baseball, despite who we play.”
-Jerry Manuel
and“I apologize to the fans who were watching this game because it was really embarrassing…When I suck, I suck, and today you guys saw it. That's what happened.”
-Francisco Rodriguez on his performance last night
Truly unbelievable.
Today, Jose Reyes tested his torn hamstring tendon. According to the Mets, while Reyes was testing his torn tendon today in Washington, he tore his hamstring muscle in the same leg.
In a season that we thought couldn’t get worse, just did. And there are only three games left to play.
Reyes’ next move is probably onto the operating table, though a team spokesman would not comment.
Where in the world is Nick Evans?
Here’s the lineup…
Sadly, there were many to choose from.

cutiepie0319k said: triple play definitely. just painful to watch #mets
s2kmikey said: Frankie pitching w/ 2outs in the 9th, Castillo drops a routine popup from ARod in shallow RF... That killed me.
wmburden said: in terms of lookin back & now laughing- the game in LA where ryan church missed 3rd base and the Mets had 5 errors.

metsfan said: home opener. winning run scored on balk.
Magus978 said: Unassisted Triple Play, no contest. Once again, Eric Bruntlett ftw. The Mets need a player like him on the bench.
disgruntmetsfan said: The unassisted triple play has to win for most original, as far as most entertaining? Has to be Church missing 3rd base
kierankelly said: Has to be Castillo's dropped ball in Yankee Stadium.

What about you? What was the most entertaining way you think the Mets managed to lose in 2009?
“Poor, poor, poor defensive mistakes. Almost to the point of embarrassing.”
-Jerry Manuel on defense
