HotFoot is reporting that if the contract talks break down between Boston and Daisuke Matsuzaka the Comissioner of baseball has the right to award the next highest team to negotiate with him.
The next highest bidding team: The New York Mets.
...this information isn't 100% credible as it comes from a Wiki, but if anyone has the time to write up mock baseball rules...well...they must have no life...
...so if we can even talk to talk to Matsuzaka i think we would completely lose out on Zito as he would see where our alliegences lie...
...i think they should persue Zito as he is proven against major league hitters, and would not cost $40 mil just to talk contracts and numbers...
